Many of us are motivated to create better futures. But projects lack resources and people are flooded with information. Our current coordination systems create power imbalances which cause misaligned incentives, wasted resources, and success to the successful.
Team Earth exists to help teams get unstuck and expand our collaborative capacity to put strategy into action. We use teaming and a systems approach to help people make sense of and act on wicked problems that threaten human and planetary health. Stay tuned for our collaborative strategy software that will allow more teams to become strategic changemakers.
Ecology is another word for “context”. We understand that things taken out of context lead to things tipping out of balance. The world around us informs us. Supporting healthy and strategic collaboration across teams is where we begin.
Complex and resilient natural systems activate our understanding of human collaboration and sensemaking. Systems break if only data or only feelings are used for navigation. Wisdom and empathy inform each other. We exist to support all of Team Earth, especially the most vulnerable.
In information space, data is the landscape. Our common ground. Information is a shared resource that calls for both generous interoperability and robust security. We empower Team Earth citizen members to make decisions about how our data commons is stewarded.
Natural systems interact with other adaptive and emergent systems. We are a co-op that nourishes aligned projects, towards the common health of people and our planet. We embed skills for effective cooperative practice into our learning processes and tool design.
What is good locally often causes harm elsewhere, and never more than in our networked and interdependent world. If we can see a few steps out, we might avoid some of the unintended consequences that have so many changemaking projects feeling stuck.
Find your context, explore your landscape, pool your strategic knowledge. Act. Repeat. Do this lots, with many collaborators, or do this slowly and extensively with just a few. But do it. The process of navigation is critical to getting us out of the messes we have co-created together.
